Commute

Most Franklin residents commute 22 miles to work in Nashville.

Although some residents only have a short commute to jobs in Cool Springs traffic congestion can be an issue.

One factor that contributes to peak hour congestion for local commuters is due to the fact that many workers travel to work in Cool Springs from Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Spring Hill and Antioch. These workers have to travel over 20 miles back and forth due to the absence of affordable housing in Franklin and Brentwood.

Shopping

The CoolSprings Galleria opened in 1991.   It is  a regional shopping complex with over 165 stores  and 9 anchor stores. The mall had been successfully managed and drew shoppers from Nashville, Murfreesboro, and other suburbs and exurbs in the region.

However , in recent years, with online shopping increasing, foot traffic had decreased. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic dealt the final blow, causing serious financial pain due to reduced customer visits to the mall. As a result, the mall operator CBL filed for bankruptcy in 2020.

In spite of all this Cool Springs Galleria is still open for business and the parking lots appear to be at normal capacity..
